Paris Chamber Orchestra

Born in 1977 into a family of musicians, Livia STANESE began studying the cello at the age of seven, and at eleven gave her first concert at the Villa Medici in Rome (Italy, EU). Trained by Masha Janushewskoya, she continued her training at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris in Philippe Muller's class, where she obtained her Premiers Prix at the age of 18. Livia Stanese obtained a Master of Music degree from the prestigious Rice University in Houston (Texas, USA), after a period of further study with Paul Katz in 2001. In 1999, she won the concerto competition at the Aspen Festival (Colorado, USA). Two years later, in 2001, she won the Potenza International Chamber Music Competition (Italy, EU), then the Libero Lana Prize at the Trieste International Chamber Music Competition (Italy, EU).

In subsequent years, she was a semi-finalist in the Rostropovich Competition in 2005, then in the Antonio Janigro International Competition in 2008. Throughout her apprenticeship, Livia Stanese benefited from the teaching of prestigious masters such as Mstislav Rostropovitch, Yo Yo Ma, Gary Hoffmann, Janos Starker and others.

She is invited to take part in renowned festivals such as Festival Saint-Riquier, Salzburg Mozarteum (Austria, EU), Dartington Festival (Devon, UK), Flâneries Musicales de Reims (France, EU), Santander Festival (Spain, EU), Académie Chigiana de Sienne (Italy, EU), Festival d'Ile de France, l'Orangerie de Sceaux... In 2007, she performed the complete Bach Suites in Paris at the Intrada festival. A keen chamber musician, Livia collaborates with Ivry Gitlis, Stephen Kovacevich, Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, Geneviève Laurenceau and others. Passionate about the music of her time, composer Éric Tanguy dedicated a work to her entitled “Trois Esquisses”, which she gave its world premiere in 1994 at the Festival de Saint-Riquier,

In 2010, she premiered a piece for her by Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, “Souffle sur les cendres” for cello and piano, at the Salon de la Musique in Paris, broadcast on France Musique (RadioFrance).

 Livia Stanese has been a member of the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris since 2004 where she plays every week in Europe. She has also created a quartet.

 Livia plays on a cello by Celestino Farotto, Milano 1926, and a bow by Simon FR.
