Born in France, Hugues Leclère perfected his skills with Catherine Collard before entering the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, where he obtained three first prizes unanimously in piano, musical analysis and chamber music.
He then began a career which took him to France at the Cité de la Musique, the auditorium of Radio-France, the Musée d'Orsay, the Chopin Festival in Nohant, the Vézère Festival ... and in 42 countries, from Central, South and North America to most European countries: Concertgebouw and Opera in Amsterdam, Musikhalle in Hamburg, Pouchkine Hall in Moscow, Coimbra Festival in Portugal…
He is the guest of many orchestras, such as the Camerata of the Berliner Philharmoniker, the National Radio Orchestra of Prague, the National Orchestra of Lorraine, the Orchester d'Auvergne, the National Orchestra of Mexico City, the Republican Guard Orchestra, the Minsk Orchestra, the Samara National Orchestra, the Timisoara Orchestra, the Brasov Philharmonic, the Reichenbach Philharmonic... under the direction of Jacques Mercier, Jean-Pierre Wallez , Arie van Beek, Mikhail Shcherbakov, Ondrej Lenard, Sebastian Lang-Lessing, Vladimir Valek, Stefan Fraas…
Privileged interpreter of Debussy, Ravel and their contemporaries, Hugues Leclère affirms his full maturity in the Germanic repertoire, which he approaches as a soloist or in chamber music. His passion for Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven led him to seek the original sounds of classical instruments. He owns a copy of Stein which goes perfectly with the masterpieces of the end of the 18th century. He is the partner of Augustin Dumay, the Streichquintet of the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Soloists of the Orchester de Paris, the quartets Modigliani, Talich, Debussy, Amarcord, Mandelring...
Recognized actor in contemporary artistic life and member of SACEM, Hugues Leclère is the sponsor of more than 50 new works, written for him by 45 composers. With his projects Debussy, poet of modernity (2012, created at the Cité de la Musique and given more than 50 times around the world), Debussy, 12 Etudes de modernité (created at the Festival Musica in 2018) and Beethoven, les Bagatelles interlacées, which will be premiered at the Philharmonie de Paris on November 20, 2020, it seeks to shed light on the links between the creative processes of past centuries and those of our time.
Member of the SACD, passionate about literature and history, he designs original shows intertwining the different artistic expressions, with in particular the actors Marie-Christine Barrault, Daniel Mesguich, Francis Huster and Alain Carré,_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_ or the painter Ruben Maya. In 2013, he designed three original shows which obtained the official label of the First World War Centenary Mission, including L'Engrenage 1913–14 where he shared the stage with journalist Patrick Poivre d'Arvor for more than 40 performances. In 2021, he will create L'autre Royaume, where he will share the stage with the writer Pascal Quignard.
Improviser, Hugues Leclère has been collaborating since 2017 with pianist and improviser Jean-François Zygel, through three shows that combine the interpretation of works by great composers with improvisations: Bachmania (2017), Debussymania, (2018) and Beethovenmania (2019).
Hugues Leclère is artistic director of the Nancyphonies international festival and coordinator of piano classes at the CRR de Paris and Pôle Supérieur PBB. He has been in charge of the International Piano Competition of Lagny-sur-Marne since 2016.
