Vincent Lucas was born in 1967. He began studying the transverse flute at the age of eight at the regional conservatory of Clermont-Ferrand. In 1981 he enrolled into the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris. In 1984 he became a prize-winner at the International Competition for Young Musicians Concertino Praga. From 1984–1989, he was a flutist with the Orchester du Capitole de Toulouse. Then, from 1989–1995, he was the 2nd flutist and the solo piccolo with the Berlin Philharmonic. Since 1994 he has been the principal flute soloist of the Orchester de Paris.

As a guest soloist he performed at the Musikverein Wien, the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Suntory Hall of Tokyo, Carnegie Hall in New York and other venues. He is very much appreciated for his chamber-music activities with many musicians such as Christoph Eschenbach, Marie-Pierre Langlamet, Christian Ivaldi, Eric Le Sage, Michel Beroff, Brigitte Engerer, Xavier Philipps, Svtelin Roussev and Radek Baborák.

Since 1995 Vincent Lucas has been teaching at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_de danse de Paris and since 1999, at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de_cc781905 -5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_Paris. Every year he teaches at the Nice International Summer Academy and gives master classes in France, Germany, Great Britain, Denmark, Serbia, Italy, Japan, China and the United States. He is Professor Emeritus at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo.

Vincent Lucas was one of the youngest flautists unanimously admitted at the age of 14 to the entrance examination for the CNSM in Paris. At the age of 17 he won the First Prize at the Prague International Radio Competition "Concertino Pragua".
After five years with the Orchester du Capitole de Toulouse, he joined the Orchester philharmonique de Berlin where he remained for 6 years before being appointed first solo flute at the Orchester de Paris in September 1994. He was the soloist of Mozart's Concerto for flute and harp with Marie-Pierre Chavaroche under the baton of Frans Brüggen in 2001 and interpreter of the Bright Sheng concerto under the direction of Christoph Eschenbach in 2004. Participant in numerous chamber music programs of the Orchester de Paris, he is also the partner in this field of Marie-Pierre Langlamet, Christian Ivaldi, Eric Le Sage, Paul Meyer, Michel Beroff, Brigitte Engerer, Xavier Philipps, Svtelin Roussev, Laurent Wagschal. He is also a member of the Wind Quintet of the soloists of the Orchester de Paris.
He teaches at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris as an assistant professor and he is principal professor at the Regional Conservatory of Paris. He also gives numerous master classes in Asia, Russia, Africa, Europe and North and South America. He was recently appointed honorary professor at the "College of Music Toho Gakuen" in Tokyo.
Vincent Lucas has made several recordings under the Indésens label: French music for flute and piano and around the composers Poulenc, Saint-Saëns, Dutilleux, Enesco, Françaix, Debussy as well as a CD for solo flute.
