Sophie Hervé, Soprano, after studying literature and a master's degree in journalism, devoted herself to music, she was Laureate in 1993 of the France Telecom International Discovery Competition at the CNSM in Paris and began in the artistic world with a major music tour with Alain Marion and Gerard Caussé.

The same year she made her stage debut in the role of Musica in Monteverdi's Orfeo. 

It was in the titular choir of the Opéra de Tours, very often cast in solo roles, that she acquired solid experience. 

At the same time, her curious and generous nature led her spontaneously towards transmission and in 1995 she was appointed singing teacher at the Center Polyphonique de la Région Center then at the CFMI in Tours and the Cefedem in Poitiers, where she led numerous workshops and introduced a large reflection on the voice and body techniques (dance, yoga, Alexander technique, and Feldenkrais) that she associates with her work as a teacher, after having practiced them herself for a long time.

Since then, she is invited by the Maîtrises, the vocal ensembles, the Choirs and also accompanies the vocal journey of the choirmasters and the actors.

From 2002 she was a lecturer at the Musicology University of Poitiers then in Tours and Paris VIII within the framework of professional licenses: Lyric Art and Stage Professions, Choir Direction, Art and Shows, Stage Art .

 

For 17 years, Sophie Hervé has been teaching singing at the 18th century Conservatory. She also directs the “Popular Stage” concept that she created with her team and works by opening her classes to the public, she promotes external exchanges, the reception of the handicapped and she passionately leads many projects on stage. In 2017, she joined "La Fabrique Lyrique" at the Bourges Conservatory, a unique concept to help the professionalization and strategic thinking of the singer today.

 

Finally, since 2008, she has been invited by the International Summer Academy of Nancy and Paris - Vincennes for master classes in singing and pedagogy. She is also a voice teacher for “And Vision” in Japan.

 

 

In recent years she has sung and taught at Mahidol University in Bangkok, then at the Flaine Academies and at the Buga Festival in Colombia.

 

Hired in 2016 by Foremi, she supervises and leads the educational path of singing teachers from French conservatories within the framework of the CNFPT and its qualifying partner training. 

 

Back in 2019, she was appointed singing teacher at the “La Salle Blanche” actor-researcher school in Paris, under the artistic direction of Xavier Gallais.

 

Passionate about theater, which she practiced at a very young age, Sophie Hervé has been directing for 20 years as part of her classes, for colleges, summer sessions, festivals with professionals and amateurs. Notably: The Secret of Eva L by Julien Joubert, Around the World in 80 Days by Louis du Noyer de Ségonzac, The Pilgrimage of the Rose by Schumann, The Flute Player by Thierry Lalo, The Fairy Queen by Purcell, La maison by Bernarda Alba by G Lorca, The creation of "Voyage de Raphaël" and "Franchouillardises de monsieur Loup", Les enfants du Levant by Isabelle Aboulker, Fragonard by Gabriel Pierné, Ansel and Gretel by Humperdinck, Swing swing by Emmanuel Touchard, Dido and Aeneas by Purcell, Pinocchio by Thierry Lalo, Le dialogue des Carmélites by Poulenc and Carmen by Bizet, Kurt Weill's 4 sous opera, Das paradie und die Péri by Schumann. In 2019, she staged a creation around the music of Vincent Bouchot based on JM Gouriot's short stories, then "Péril en operette" (creation), again: Les enfants de l'île du levant d' Isabelle Aboulker and Schubert's Winter Journey with filmmaker Jean Seban. From 2021/22 she directs Pelleas and Melisande by Debussy, and Baba Yaga by Coralie Fayolle.

 

For 30 years, Sophie Hervé sang the soprano soloist in oratorios from Bach to Verdi and Szymanowski and in creations in France and abroad.

Member of Trio instrument and voice, vocal quartet and the Voc'alizée ensemble, she enjoys discovering the repertoire of yesterday and today and has extensive experience in the field of chamber music, a passion she teaches and shares today with enthusiasm.

 

During all these years, we could hear him as a soloist under prestigious directions. Among all these moments, she sings the soprano of Requiem by Verdi, of Mass by L.Bernstein, the Stabat Mater by Dvorak, Rossini, Pergolese…, Psalm 42 by Mendelssohn, the great Mass in C by Mozart, Gallia by Gounod, Mozart's Requiem, Duruflé, Dvorak, Handel's Dixit Dominus, Poulenc's Gloria, Donizetti's Missa Gloria, Rossini's Little Mass... As on stage in the roles of Elvira (the Italian in Algiers) and Despina (Cosi fan tutte), Helene (la belle Hélène) the first servant in Amour Masqué in Messager at the Edinburgh Festival, the role of Diane (Iphigénie en Tauride) that of Milady in Eaux d'Ems by Léo Delibes and Bess in Porgy and Bess by Gershwin or Marguerite (the Phantom of the Opera film version) with the Octet of France at the Pordenone Festival in Venice... 

But also regularly within the framework of the Nancyphonies festival, where she intervenes simultaneously each year as a teacher and opera singer, in particular in classical or unexpected programs such as: La Bonne Chanson de Fauré with string quartet and piano, in Jazz quartet or in Brahms' Ziegueunerlieder, or un  "Paris~New York" with the improvising pianist Cyrille Lehn and the vibraphonist Philippe Macé and more recently in Schubert, Strauss and Brahms with the magnificent piano of David Seilig .

These last beautiful artistic moments are: the Stabat Mater of Poulenc in Bangkok and that of Dvorjak in Montpellier dir C Gaulon, the Requiem of Verdi in Paris and in Chartres, the Song of the Earth of Malher in Bourges dir Jean Francois Heisser, the little Solemn Mass in Paris. In 2022 she resumes with a program "Belle Époque" clarinet / piano / voice and in trio (French music) Flute / piano / voice, then the Stabat mater of Pergolese  in July in Paris.

 

In 2015 and obtained a DU at Paris VII in psychopathology and physiology of the voice with mention TB.

In 2021 she is certified Hypnotherapeute. 

Sophie Herve is working on writing a book on her singing pedagogy: “La voix(e) du Périnée” she is also preparing online training.

Recognized for her research work and her technical and analytical teaching (from global breathing to the mechanical optimization of the larynx), she trains many voice professionals who come to enrich their pedagogy in the light of her teaching.

Daughter and little girl of professional classical singers Sophie Hervé works her family voice with Irène Maugué then improves with Udo Reinemann for the lied and the melody and then approaches during more than 25 years a very broad repertoire (operas, operettas, oratorios, recitals, creations , musical comedy.)  

 

Since 1995 and parallel to her career in the opera world, she is professor of singing at the Center Region Polyphonic Center and then at the CFMI of Tours and Cefedem of Poitiers, she animates many workshops and introduces a great reflection on the voice and bodily techniques (dance, yoga, Alexander Technique, and Feldenkrais) that she associates with her work after practicing them herself.

 

She works with professional and amateur ensembles in the Masters and Choirs and accompanies the vocal path of choral conductors and actors. Thus, it will gradually gain the trust and technical support of young singers and artists of national and international renown.   From 2002 she is a lecturer at the University Musicology of Poitiers and Tours and Paris VIII. She works on the modules: Lyrical Art and Performing Arts of the Stage, Direction of Choir, Art and Shows, Art of the Stage.   Since 2004, professor of singing at the Conservatoire du XVIII and in Lyric Art at the Conservatoire du VIII in the city of Paris, she works by opening her classes to the public, promotes external exchanges and passionately leads many projects.   For 12 years, she has been invited by the International Summer Academy of Nancy and Paris - Vincennes for masters classes of singing and pedagogy. In January 2011 by Mahidol University in Bangkok. Since 2014 at the Academies of Flaine. She is invited in November 2017 in concert and master class and concerts in Colombia.

She sings the solo soprano of Bach's oratorios in Szymanowski, France and abroad. Member of Trio, quartet, vocal ensembles, she likes to discover the repertoire of yesterday and today and has a great experience and knowledge in the field of chamber music, passion she teaches and always shares with enthusiasm .

 

Directed by Robert Martignoni, Jacques Pesi, Jean Marc Cochereau, Jean Yves Ossonce, Claude Schnitzler, Philippe Hui, Dominique Trottein, Denis Rouger, Amin Kouider ... She sings in recent years in France in Verdi's Requiem, Mass de L. Bernstein, Dvorak's Stabat Mater, Mendelssohn's Psalm 42, Mozart's High Mass in C, Gounod's Gallia, Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Dixit Dominus, Poulenc's Gloria, Donizetti's Missa Gloria, La Petite Mass of Rossini ... But also the roles of Elvira (the Italian in Algiers ) and Despina (Cosi fan tutte), Helene (beautiful Helen) the first servant in the Masked Love of Messenger at the Edinburgh Festival, the role of Diane (Iphigénie en Tauride) that of Milady in the waters of Ems by Léo Delibes and Bess in Porgy and Bess by Gershwin or Marguerite (the Phantom of the Opera cinematographic version) with the Octuor de France at the Pordenone Festival in Venice ...  

 

As part of the Nancyphonies Festival, she performs simultaneously as a teacher and artist, including a duet with Didier Henry, in Fauré's La Bonne Chanson with string quartet and piano, in a Jazz quartet with Philippe Macé, in the Ziegueunerlieder de Brhams with Karolos Zouganelis , in a program "Paris -New York" with improvisational pianist Cyrille Lehn and she sings Schubert, Strauss and Brahms accompanied by David Selig. Recently we heard it in the Solemn Little Mass in Sancerre and Poulenc's Stabat Mater in Paris, the Chant de la Terre by Malher, directed by Jean Francois Heisser ...  

 

She resumed her studies in 2015 and obtained a DU in Paris VII in psychopathology and physiology of voice with the mention TB. Sophie Herve is currently writing a book on her pedagogy of singing.
